Further Parking Restrictions at Dutton’s Hill?

Villagers may be interested to hear that plans are afoot to increase periods when parking is prohibited at a notorious Ruddington bottleneck.

Currently, consultees including Nottinghamshire Highways and local Councillors are getting an opportunity to give their thoughts about additional parking restrictions along Wilford Road at ‘Dutton’s Hill’ (pictured top) before VIA East Midlands puts final proposals to the wider public. In between double yellow lines there are three stretches of sometimes unrestricted parking which can accommodate up to seven vehicles.

However, the move towards further restrictions is primarily as a result of complaints received regarding traffic flow on market days, meaning changes are only being suggested for the first Saturday of each month.  The current no waiting/no loading times and parking time limits would remain in place at all other times – as follows:-

Proposed No Waiting and No Loading

  • Mon – Fri 8am – 9.15am and 5pm – 6.30pm,
  • Sat 7am – 1pm and 5pm – 6.30pm on the first Saturday of each month (Market day) only

Proposed 2 hours parking

  • Mon – Fri 9.15am – 5pm
  • Sat 1pm – 5pm the first Saturday of each month (Market day) only

Please note, at this stage, the above are only proposals, to gauge the opinion of the consultees, before the scheme is then publicly advertised.

Villagers will get our chance to have a say in due course!

Long queues up to Dutton’s Hill are common on Ruddington Village Market days.
