Compulsory Parking Fees Introduced

If you’re visiting Ruddington’s Country Park this weekend here’s a timely reminder that you must now pay to park – or face a fine. Despite the largely negative public reaction to the proposed introduction of compulsory car parking charges – as we reported here on RUDDINGTON.info in February – Rushcliffe Borough Council has gone ahead with the mandatory £1 fee this month. Previously the £1 parking charge was by voluntary donation – meaning that some visitors chose not to pay it. Village Plan Out Soon

It’s been announced that another milestone will be reached this summer with the publication of the final Ruddington Village Plan – your vision for how our village should develop over the next 5 to 10 years. Originally begun in 2013, the Village Plan has been painstakingly formulated by an independent steering group made up of around twenty volunteers who live and/or work in Ruddington alongside up to three Ruddington Parish Council representatives. Supported throughout the process by staff from Rural Community Action Nottinghamshire, it’s been created based on the issues and concerns that were raised by a detailed questionnaire delivered to all village households…

Parish Council Favours “Southern Gateway” Housing

Ruddington Parish Councillors have voted in favour of recommending just ONE additional site for potential Green Belt homes – off the A60 Mere Way roundabout (pictured). It follows the Annual Parish Meeting last night during which members of the public were invited to ask questions and comment on a further FOUR sites which Rushcliffe Borough Council has identified for possible new greenfield housing developments in Ruddington. Asher Lane Housing Plans Refused

Ruddington residents can breathe a sigh of relief – for now – after Rushcliffe Borough Council rejected plans to build 175 new homes on our Green Belt north of Asher Lane. The proposals were lodged by land owners Space Foods Ltd back in January after a previous application for 250 houses on the same site was withdrawn just over two years earlier. Housing Consultation Deadline This Friday!

Village residents concerned about possible large new housing developments on Ruddington’s Green Belt are reminded that they must have their say by 5pm this Friday, the 31st of March 2017. Ruddington Teenager Heads to Nicaragua

An 18 year old Ruddington resident has made it through a rigorous selection process to become part of a Raleigh International team heading to Nicaragua next month helping local communities get clean water and sanitation. Anousheh Fulford will be living with a host family in a remote village for three months – sharing in the life of the community – with the aim of improving his understanding of a different culture and their understanding of ours. It seems there has been a largely negative reaction so far to the planned introduction of compulsory car parking charges at our country park this June – even though it will still only cost us a pound! More Woodland for our Country Park

After an unsuccessful application to The Woodland Trust to enable more tree planting at Rushcliffe Country Park a local company has now stepped in to help. The Nottingham Post reports that Artex Ltd has contributed £5,000 to allow an area about the size of a football pitch to be fenced off and for woodland to be created for future generations.
