Rescheduled 2018 Rushcliffe Run

If you’re a keen runner but thought you’d missed out on taking part in this year’s Rushcliffe 10k & Fun Run there’s good news – you haven’t! Last Sunday’s event was postponed for safety reasons due to the heavy snow and icy conditions – and has been rescheduled for Sunday 25th March. One positive consequence is that a limited number of new spaces have become available for the previously sold out 10k Run – whilst room remains for participants in the 5k Run and 2.5k child friendly Fun Run, too! Organisers Perfect Motion Sports Marketing…

Village residents are once again rooting for Ruddington ice dancer Penny Coomes – as she and skating partner Nick Buckland battle it out against the best – representing Team GB at the 2018 Winter Games in PyeongChang. South Korea is the third trip to a Winter Olympics for our local duo – having also represented Team GB at Vancouver in 2010 and Sochi in 2014. Voice UK Star’s Ruddington Roots

If Saturday night TV talent shows are one of your weekly treats then you may well have already seen Eliza Gutteridge. Last weekend the 16 year old singer wowed the judges during the blind audition stage of The Voice UK on ITV, and the familiar local surname is no co-incidence because her family is from here. In fact the Gutteridges can trace their Ruddington roots back to 1640! Several relatives, who’re still in Ruddington, were glued to her performance of “Wild Horses” by Birdy last Saturday night as the self-confessed Tom Jones…

It’s certainly a great way for our village to round off the year since Green 10 driver Badar Sheikh achieved the same accolade right at the start of 2017 following HIS “mystery traveller” assessment. Mr Neal, who drives the Pink 30 route, too, will now be entered into the 2017 NCT Driver of the Year Competition next month. Good luck to Badar and Ian!
