There’s Movement at the Methodists’

Following an unprecedented period where there has been a very uncharacteristic lack of activity at the distinctive and historic Church Street building, Ruddington Methodist Church springs back to life this weekend! Of course, like many others in our village, the chapel (dating from 1873) was closed for services and other gatherings in March 2020 due to the Coronavirus pandemic. It’s just taken a little longer than some to get restarted, now all COVID-19 restrictions are lifted. Kathy Powis reveals: “After nearly 18 months of complete shut-down or occasional services, we are…

Rushcliffe’s 5k Parkrun Returns

Ruddington welcomed the return of its weekly 5k Parkrun for adults this morning (Saturday 24th July) after an unprecedented sixteen month gap. It was suspended back in March 2020, because of the COVID-19 pandemic so participants today were clearly keen to get their running shoes and high-vis back on! Ruddington’s Parkrun Returns

Excitement is mounting amongst younger children from our village (and beyond) that Rushcliffe Junior Parkrun will be back from Sunday April 11th at 9.00am! With exactly one week to go, volunteer organisers have been checking the kit, putting up information posters and…

A Sign of Better Times

Eagle-eyed travellers entering Ruddington this week may already have spotted a subtle new addition to our village gateway signs – indicating that things should be starting to get back to normal. After a further break of three months, during the latest Coronavirus ‘lockdown’, it’s been confirmed that Ruddington Village Market will return to The Green in April. The smart new signs (below), produced in time for what would have been the ‘second birthday’ market in February, have since been sitting in storage until it was considered safe to resume the monthly…

Back to School – Again!

With an end to the COVID-19 pandemic finally in sight, Ruddington parents will be hoping this Monday’s return to classes for their children will be a permanent and irreversible one. It’s certainly been an unprecedented last twelve months. All but vulnerable youngsters and those of key workers were first sent home almost a year ago – on March 20th 2020 – when the Coronavirus originally took hold in Britain. They were not able to go back into school until June, with strict COVIDsafe measures first being put in place. Even…
