Guided Historical Walks

Theres a choice of two walk and talk events to find out the history of our village. Gavin Walker, curator of The Village Museum, will be your guide as you stroll around Ruddington on Bank Holiday Monday, 8th May. To discover more about the history of Ruddington you can just turn up outside St Peter’s Rooms at either 11am or 2pm. These are leisurely walks and will be around a mile long, usually taking 1.5 to 2 hours, and are FREE to attend.. FREE Puppet Show for The King’s Coronation

As part of Ruddington’s celebration of The King’s Coronation is a FREE Puppet Show on Monday 8th May. “A Village Coronation – The Lost Shoe” starring ‘The Royal Family and their animal friends’ at the puppet theatre in St Peter’s Church. Come for Christingle!

If you like sweets and festive fun involving all the family, then please come along to help make around 400 Christingles! On 22nd December from 11.30am in The Hermitage Centre (located along St Peter’s Church). Christian tradition is for children to stick sweets on cocktail sticks; then to pop them in an object, usually an orange (representing the globe), wrap a red ribbon (sharing love) around the orange; and then a candle (lighting up the world) goes on top. NTHC Fireworks Spectacular 2022

On Sunday 6th November Ruddington’s famous ‘Fireworks Spectacular’ is taking place at the Nottingham Transport Heritage Centre. {Please note that it is NOT SATURDAY 5TH as has previously been listed on the web.} NTHC’s annual evening display for Guy Fawkes night features a funfair, hot food, sweet stalls and sideshows. Ruddington ‘Wakes’ Funfair

Ruddington’s traditional, family funfair continues this weekend. The annual event is on from 2pm on Saturday 25th and on Sunday 26th June. If you’re a Ruddington resident, walking to the funfair is recommended. For visitors not in the village there is some free onsite parking. Alternatively, except on Sunday, you can catch Nottingham City Transport’s Navy 3 bus service direct to the fair alighting at Paget Crescent bus stop. Ruddington ‘Wakes’ Funfair

This is an annual, traditional, family event. Ruddington ‘Wakes’ dates back over one hundred years, when the St Peter’s Feast was the start of the school holidays in the village (around the 29th of June). For 2022, the rides and attractions open at 5pm on Wednesday 22nd, Thursday 23rd & Friday 24th and from 2pm on Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th June. The Forties with The Framework Knitters

Ruddington’s Framework Knitters Museum is hosting a FREE wartime extravaganza on Bank Holiday Monday, the 29th of  May. Called ‘Swing Back to the 1940s’, the event turns back the clock to the Second World War, with staff and volunteers decked out in best 1940s regalia.
