A property developer currently building 175 new houses on former Green Belt land in Ruddington is asking for “a change in time frame” for offsite highway improvements at two busy junctions. Avant Homes (Midlands) is seeking a “variation of planning Condition 9” 18/00300/OUT until the first 35 dwellings on its new 15.89 acre ‘Wilbur Chase’ development south of Musters Road have been occupied. It seems that Space Foods Limited has now found a property developer willing to take on the building of an approved major new Ruddington housing estate on its land north of Asher Lane. This Green Belt site was the subject of a long battle by village residents, Ruddington Action Group and Ruddington Parish Council to prevent housing development. When Cutting a Corner is Welcomed

A public spirited villager has come to the rescue in Ruddington. The pavement on the corner of St John’s Road and St Mary’s Crescent has a very steep kerb making it difficult, even dangerous, for mobility scooter and wheelchair users, people with prams and with pushchairs to negotiate the corner safely. A complaint was received by Ruddington Parish Council after a mobility scooter user fell into the road from the slope. Fortunately the lady was only slightly injured.
