Roundabout Roundup

With construction of our new Ruddington roundabout well underway we thought it was time to bring you a bit of a progress report in words and pictures…

The work, which began on the 9th of January, is to convert the current T-Junction where Clifton Road meets Wilford Road into a roundabout.  You can read the background to this >>HERE<<.

As you can see, a month on, most of the road widening work is now complete, with minimal impact on traffic so far. However we’re being warned that the next phase will be the most disruptive:-

Four bus stops around the junction are being withdrawn

From this Monday, the 13th of February, until Friday the 24th of February there will be three way temporary traffic lights in use. This is likely to cause peak time traffic delays. Also, during this period, four bus stops used by the NCT Navy 3 service and two used by Nottingham Community Transport’s L22 and L23 will be withdrawn – from 7.30am on Monday 13th until 4.00pm on Friday 24th February.

Buses towards Ruddington:

Clifton Road RU0570 & Wilford Road RU0571

Buses towards the City:

Wilford Road RU0489 & Clifton Road RU0568

During the works passengers should wait at the temporary stops sited nearby.

Then, according to roadworks.org, between Monday the 27th of February and Thursday the 2nd of March, Clifton Road will need to be completely CLOSED for 4 days. Ruddington Parish Council say this closure and diversion should now only be required for 3 days – and will be closed only from around 09.00am to 3.30pm – but it HAS now been approved by Nottinghamshire County Council whilst the final phase of roundabout construction takes place. During this period the official diversion will be via Farnborough Rd to the A453 and up Wilford Rd or up the ring-road to the A60! You can comment to NCC about this or any aspect of the roadworks >>HERE<<.

LATEST: This updated statement has now appeared on Nottingham City Transport’s Website:

“A full closure of this junction is planned for Monday 27 February to Wednesday 1 March 2017 between 09:30 and 15:30 each day. It is likely Navy 3 buses will not serve Ruddington during these times. Full details will be confirmed soon.”

Needless to say all this will inevitably cause major daytime disruption for many Ruddington residents – with motorists given a very long diversionary route and our buses withdrawn during those hours. So be prepared!

We’ll write a new post with further updates next week.
