This year villagers and visitors have suffered unprecedented and disruptive roadworks in Ruddington – many of them to facilitate the construction of four major new housing developments on our former village Green Belt.
Thankfully things are looking much quieter into the new year. Whilst, of course, Santa and his reindeer can fly over any traffic queues or road closures, no significant Christmas disruption is planned for we terrestrial drivers, either!
The current Wilford Road work by BT is off-peak only. The three-way traffic lights originally planned by Severn Trent for our village centre, adjacent to Kempson Street, will now simply be ‘Stop/Go’ instead. Even this month’s ‘gully cleansing’ along Loughborough Road (top photo) is unlikely to cause significant hold-ups.
In fact, it’ll be the second week of January 2022 before major highway work returns to Ruddington – at the Kirk Lane/Loughborough Road/Flawforth Lane junction – and even that’s only taking place on a Sunday*. Let’s keep our fingers crossed the situation stays that way!
The full list of known Ruddington roadworks in the next few weeks can be found below:-
- Mon 6th Dec to Wed 8th Dec 9.30am to 3.00pm – Two way traffic lights on Wilford Road close to the Lodge Farm turn – Desilting manholes and possible excavation for blockage clearance work – by BT OpenReach
- Thu 9th December at 8.00am to Sat December 11th at 5.00pm – “Give & Take” traffic control at the High Street/Parkyns Street junction – Three new water connections to the main from Kempson Street by Severn Trent
- Tue 14th Dec to Thu 16th Dec 9.00am to 3.00pm – Stop/Go boards in use along the entire length of Loughborough Road within Ruddington – during ‘gully cleansing’ – Nottinghamshire County Council
- *Sun 9th January 2022 from 8am to 6pm – Multi-way signals at the Kirk Lane/Loughborough Road/Flawforth Lane junction – water work by Severn Trent
Nevertheless, residents and visitors can expect some disruption for drivers, and also passengers using Kinchbus 9, CT4N Services 22 & 23 & Nottingham City Transport’s Navy 3 & Green 10C/10X Rushcliffe Country Park/Ruddington Fields buses and the NottsBus Connect Service 863 at times.
