Further complete closures of Ruddington’s main shopping street and Dutton’s Hill are among the roadworks liable to cause disruption over the next few months in and around our village.
Firstly, there’s Easter Day work (Sunday 17th April) by Severn Trent for repair and maintenance on High Street, meaning the road will be closed throughout the day with diversions in operation. Nottingham City Transport says between 08:00-17:00 its Green 10/C service will divert: turning left onto Easthorpe St, right on the A60 and right onto Kirk Lane (10) or straight on to Mere Way (10C). The stops named Easthorpe St and High St will not be served.
Secondly, motorists may be dismayed to hear that Wilford Road will need to be closed again for a week in July at Dutton’s Hill (outside the SPAR shop) to facilitate further gas main work by Cadent. It follows a two week emergency closure in the same place last November. This caused major traffic chaos and also a significant loss of trade for many village centre businesses. It will again mean route changes for CT4N Services 22 & 23 & Nottingham City Transport’s Navy 3.
