More Village Centre Roadworks

No sooner has Cadent Gas finally completed its over-running repair work – which closed Wilford Road at Dutton’s Hill for almost two weeks – village centre traders and motorists in Ruddington are immediately facing more potential disruption and delays this week.

Yesterday (Monday 29th November) business owners on High Street received a letter of confirmation from Severn Trent that the planned work around Kempson Street is going ahead for three days, from today. This is to provide a new water connection for additional homes (artist’s impression below) being built along there. As well as a temporary loss of parking for both shop staff and shoppers, four-way temporary traffic signals at the High Street/Parkyns Street junction are also liable to continue putting off vital visitors during what is the peak Christmas shopping season.

Ruddington Village Centre Partnership, organisers of the Christmas street market on Saturday, December 4th which is due to be taking place on High Street (as well as on The Green and in St Peter’s Church, are keeping their fingers crossed this latest work won’t also over-run and spoil their plans. Additionally, traffic lights will have returned along Wilford Road by then!
