A three week closure of Flawforth Lane next month in connection with Linden Homes’ ‘Blacksmith’s Green’ development has been called off.
This had been requested from August 9th to August 27th to enable the completion of the junction into the new estate – also involving widening of the footpath and the installation of a combined sewer. However, given this is such a busy route in and out of the village, Linden Homes has now decided this work can be carried out using multi-way temporary traffic lights, rather than needing a road closure and diversion.
Unfortunately for village motorists, the previously reported full closure of Wilford Road for one week next month for similar junction work for the Bloor Homes development is still set to go ahead.
Also, it’s been announced that traffic lights are set to reappear in our village centre this weekend – causing further potential disruption for shoppers and traders.
The latest list of highway work scheduled for our village, with the details known so far, is below:-
- Saturday 17th July 7.00am to 10.00pm – Four-way temporary signals will control traffic – at the High Street/Easthorpe Street/Church Street junction – 2 x new water connections by Severn Trent Water.
- Until Sunday 1st August 2021 – 24 hour two-way traffic signals on Wilford Rd approx. 100m north of Paget Close junction – Site entrance construction, road widening, and drainage works for the new Bloor Homes ‘Fairham Green’ development.
- 7.00am Monday August 2nd to 5.00pm on Sunday August 8th 2021 – a FULL CLOSURE of Wilford Road from a point 120 metres north of its junction with Paget Crescent in a northern direction for 150 metres from for completion of the site entrance construction, road widening, and drainage works for the new ‘Fairham Green’ housing development.. {The official diversionary route is via B680 Wilford Road – Landmere Lane – A60 Loughborough Road – B680 Kirk Lane and vice versa, as shown below.}
- Until Friday August 27th 2021 – Two-Way Signals on Flawforth Lane progressing into Three-Way Signals with Flawforth Avenue – in connection with the “Blacksmith’s Green” development to enable the construction of a new junction, widening of the footpath and the installation of a combined sewer. {The previously announced road closure has been cancelled.}
Residents and visitors are warned of delays and disruption for drivers and passengers using Kinchbus 9, CT4N Services 22 & 23, Nottingham City Transport Navy 3, and Green 10C/10X Rushcliffe Country Park/Ruddingtion Fields buses, and the NottsBus Connect Service 863 during the above work.
