Launch of ‘The Ruddington Pantry’

This month sees the start of a brand new local initiative which it’s hoped will reduce food waste in our village. On Wednesday 6th April Carol Jaggers and Gwen Eyre are opening a ‘community fridge’ in St Peter’s Rooms called ‘The Ruddington Pantry’.  The aim of a community fridge is to rescue good quality, surplus food, free of charge from local food retailers, gardeners and restaurants. Supporting Good Causes at Ruddington Co-op

Every year shoppers at our village Co-op help to provide much needed cash for three local good causes via their ‘Local Community Fund’. During the last funding year, the Ruddington branch handed out a total of £11,458.25 to local projects in need via ‘The Big Co-op Payout’ – split between Ruddington District Girl Guiding, NG11 Foodbank and Together@Clifton. New Food Bank for Ruddington

The government ‘lockdown’ at the end of March to try to keep us safe and slow the spread of COVID-19 Coronavirus now seems to be working. However the hardship it’s causing has resulted in several new community initiatives here in Ruddington to help those who’re most in need. Co-op hands over £15.6K to Local Good Causes

Ruddington’s Co-op Supermarket has today presented cheques totalling over fifteen thousand pounds to the three beneficiaries of last year’s ‘Local Community Fund’. The grand local total for the 2018/2019 ‘Big Co-op Payout’ was £15,665.20 – comprising £5610.45 for Bloomin’ Dementia (top photo), plus £4827.65 for St. Peter’s Church and £5227.10 for Friends of Rushcliffe Country Park (below). Ruddington Co-op Reveals Latest ‘Good Causes’

The three beneficiaries of this year’s ‘Local Community Fund’ – courtesy of shoppers at the Ruddington Co-op Supermarket – have just been announced.
