Rushcliffe Borough Council has has now sealed off the play area at Rushcliffe Country Park until further notice. The closure – which came into force at 3pm today (Monday 23rd March) – is in light of the rapid spread of the potentially lethal COVID-19 Coronavirus across our region. The new restriction is in line with the latest central government attempts to reduce the transmission of the virus. It’s thought the Council’s sudden decision may have been prompted by visitors flocking to our Country Park over a sunny, spring weekend – with…

Reaching Out in Ruddington During the Pandemic
By now every household in our village should have had a leaflet like this through their letterbox. Its aim is to ensure that even our elderly and vulnerable residents, who’re not internet savvy, are aware of the help and support available in Ruddington to get them through the COVID-19 Coronavirus outbreak. As previously reported, it follows a ‘Community Call Up’ from Laura Ratcliffe of Ruddington Mums just over a week ago, when she asked residents who knew of any people in our village who would struggle, if required to self-isolate due to…

Working parents in Ruddington have now got another potential headache – as all schoolchildren will be sent home for an indefinite period on Friday (20th March) due to the COVID-19 Coronavirus pandemic. NCT continues…

The impacts of the virus first began to be felt in our village around a week ago when some shoppers started panic buying. Then we reported on the ‘Community Call Up’ just before the…

As concerns about Coronavirus start to take hold across the country, already there are visible signs of how worried people in our village are about the untreatable COVID-19 strain – for which none of us has any immunity – reaching Ruddington. As of this evening (Tuesday 10th March 2020) there are now 373 detected cases in the UK – with five of those being in Nottinghamshire. Over the weekend some Ruddington residents started panic buying items such as toilet rolls and hand wash as a social media induced frenzy indicated…

A much loved Ruddington hairdresser is having to relocate her business, and a single mum to leave her home, after Rushcliffe Borough Council (RBC) planners approved controversial new redevelopment proposals earlier than expected. {There’s now an update below.*} We reported last week that an application had been made to convert 25 and 25A Easthorpe Street back into two, purely residential properties. Unfortunately no one thought to tell current occupier, Jane Hallam of the ‘Hair Flair’ salon – who instead heard about it from her neighbour! When RBC was made aware of her plight, it agreed to extend the window…
