On 1st June 2018, trustees and volunteers for Ruddington based charity The Mustard Seed Project (Uganda) waved goodbye to a 40 foot container which was crammed full of items that were sourced and donated to send to Uganda. A Ruddington based charity, which aims to give a better quality of life to dementia sufferers and their families, is celebrating raising over five hundred pounds this summer to continue its work. Open Gardens Raises over £2K for Children’s Charities

Organisers are celebrating the success of last weekend’s “Ruddington Open Gardens” – after the final tally revealed that £2280 was raised for kids’ charities! This total will be split between Save the Children and Action for Children. Four trustees of Ruddington based charity The Mustard Seed Project have arrived home from their trip to Uganda having received invaluable, personal updates on its work. In January we revealed that a new Children’s Society shop was coming to Ruddington. We’re glad to report that it began trading TODAY (Friday 23rd March) from Number 2 Easthorpe Street. It was officially opened at 10.30am by the Mayor of Rushcliffe Councillor Barrie Cooper. Mustard Seed Success

Ruddington’s Mustard Seed Project has revealed it’s made a four figure sum from its latest fundraiser – and then some! The charity – which secures funds to provide clean water, food and an education for children in Teso, Uganda – held its second ‘Knickers for Knowledge Fashion Show’ at St Peter’s School in our village last night (Friday 9th March) asking for donations of new knickers, a bra or a child’s book from those who attended. If you’re a keen runner but thought you’d missed out on taking part in this year’s Rushcliffe 10k & Fun Run there’s good news – you haven’t! Last Sunday’s event was postponed for safety reasons due to the heavy snow and icy conditions – and has been rescheduled for Sunday 25th March. A Ruddington nine year-old has just lost her much-loved long locks – so she can donate her hair to a children’s charity. Kind hearted Alice Rogers, who attends St Peter’s School, has gone even further – using her father Wayne’s JustGiving page to also raise money for The Little Princess Trust. 2018 is certainly shaping up to be a big year for Ruddington’s Mustard Seed Project! As regular readers will know, this is the fundraising group set up by James Peacock Infants School teachers Sally Squires and Jayne Henson inspired by their visit to Uganda in the Summer of 2016.
