Long-awaited highway improvements to alleviate the daily traffic queues at an increasingly busy Ruddington crossroads are scheduled to begin next month.
As previously reported, local frustrations have been mounting about peak-time tailbacks at the Kirk Lane/Loughborough Road/Flawforth Lane traffic lights. It’s as hundreds of families continue to move into Ruddington’s four major new housing developments (approved over three years’ ago as part of the Rushcliffe Borough Council (RBC) ‘Local Plan Part Two’) before the mandated improvement works to add extra turning lanes at this critical junction have been carried out.
RUDDINGTON.info has learned that these considerably overdue works are set to start during the second and third weekends in July, beginning with National Grid*. Thereafter, the further package of agreed improvements will continue when different parties undertake their respective works.
It comes after the signing of the ‘Section 278’ legal agreement recently, followed by another meeting this week at which VIA East Midlands was presented with the fine details of all necessary works and a timetable to undertake them. Long-suffering motorists and local residents are being reassured these works have been co-ordinated to minimise disruption to road users – and that everything should be completed by the end of November 2023.
However, sadly these aren’t the only Ruddington roadworks likely to cause delays for drivers in the next couple of months. Others which we are aware of are also listed below:-
