New Style Café Church

On the first Sunday of every month a New Style Café Church usually takes place at St Peter’s Church from 9.30am until 10.50am. For those wishing to stay longer, this is followed by Holy Communion. James Peacock Plummets in Ofsted Ratings

James Peacock Infant and Nursery School had a two-day inspection last month under Ofsted’s Education Inspection Framework (EIF), introduced in September 2019. It concluded that the Ruddington school has fallen from being ‘Outstanding’ (in 2010) down to ‘Requires improvement’ in every category – as shown below from its Ofsted school report. When NHS Rushcliffe Clinical Commissioning Group relocated from Easthorpe House to new premises in June 2020, the future of the Grade 2 listed Ruddington property looked rather uncertain. With the COVID-19 pandemic in full swing by then, for its landlords Carlton Street Trading finding new tenants for this large but attractive building off Loughborough Road was likely to prove more difficult than usual. Launch of ‘The Ruddington Pantry’

This month sees the start of a brand new local initiative which it’s hoped will reduce food waste in our village. On Wednesday 6th April Carol Jaggers and Gwen Eyre are opening a ‘community fridge’ in St Peter’s Rooms called ‘The Ruddington Pantry’.  The aim of a community fridge is to rescue good quality, surplus food, free of charge from local food retailers, gardeners and restaurants. Goodbye Brookside Autoservices

It’s been the end of another era in our village today (Thursday 31st March) as a long established and much loved Ruddington business closed its doors for the final time. The two highly skilled car mechanics behind it, Dave Pearson and John Dennis (pictured top), have brought to an end over 30 years of running Brookside Autoservices together by announcing their retirement.
