The Return of Ruddington’s Navy 3 and Green 10C/10X

When the Government instructed us to ‘Stay at Home’ to ‘Save Lives’ and ‘Protect the NHS’ at the start of the Coronavirus ‘lockdown’ in March, bus operators quickly put their services on a much reduced ‘core’ timetable – with public transport being deemed for ‘essential travel’ only. As movement restrictions are gradually eased, and more people return to work, the vast majority of Nottingham City Transport (NCT) buses are back to their former timetable from Sunday June 28th 2020. For Ruddington, the reinstatement of the Navy 3 service means residents, shoppers and workers can…

Facial Coverings on Public Transport Become Compulsory

Monday 15th June 2020 is the date when a further easing of the Government’s COVID-19 ‘lockdown’ restrictions means non-essential shops in Ruddington are permitted to reopen. However, it’s also the day that wearing a facial covering becomes mandatory on all public transport – including Ruddington’s Green 10 (and soon the Navy 3) buses run by Nottingham City Transport. This new requirement was announced by the Secretary of State for Transport, Grant Shapps MP, on June 4th to provide additional protection against the spread of Coronavirus as passenger numbers slowly start to increase. If…

Bus Company’s Advice on Face Coverings

Whilst the Government says using public transport should still be avoided during COVID-19 Coronavirus ‘social distancing’ restrictions, Nottingham City Transport is advising that passengers making essential journeys may benefit from wearing a face covering. Ruddington’s main bus operator says this may be ‘marginally beneficial’ in some circumstances as a precautionary measure. “The evidence suggests that wearing a face covering does not protect you, but it may protect others if you are infected but have not yet developed symptoms. This is most relevant for short periods of time indoors, such as small…
