As the festive countdown continues, you COULD fight your way through the traffic and the crowds in the city centre – or risk ordering a last minute gift or your Christmas shopping online in the hope that it MIGHT just get here in time. But wouldn’t a stroll into our lovely village centre be a rather less stressful and more enjoyable experience?
RUDDINGTON.info, in conjunction with Ruddington Village Centre Partnership (RVCP), is encouraging you to #ThinkRuddington and #ShopLocal before you leap into the car or click that mouse! From food and drink to DIY, so much of what you need is right here, on your doorstep. And you can reduce your carbon footprint to zero at the same time.
We have a multitude of unique, independent retailers who are waiting to serve us everything from plants, jewellery, clothing, tools, and spectacles to a new kitchen or a used car. You can buy lovely homemade cakes, deli items, visit our bakery, sort out your Christmas Day meats at the butcher’s, and lots more. Maybe you just need a last minute haircut or a shampoo and set?
Our two newest traders on High Street and Church Street mean that, for the first time this Christmas, you can choose from the most fantastic range of traditional pick ‘n’ mix sweets and chocolates imaginable – AND even get your pooch pampered whilst you shop! Then just pop in to our two village supermarkets for everything else you’re likely to want.
Adding into the festive mix our cafés, restaurants, tearooms, takeaways, seven pubs and a cocktail bar means you might wish to consider walking – or, if further afield, hopping on board one of Ruddington’s frequent and friendly Navy 3 or Green 10 NCT Buses to make the most of your #RuddyGoodDayOut! If you’ve not yet picked up the latest free NCT Ruddington guide booklet, then you’ll find one at venues throughout Ruddington – pinpointing many of these outlets and our other village tourist attractions. Also remember to use your Ruddy Good Loyalty Card for #RUDDYGOODOFFERS at no less than 34 independent village traders, too! Check out how to get one, and all the current deals and discounts, >>HERE<<.
If you’ve still not watched it, “Twelve Days of Traders” has been another facet of our festive #ShopLocal campaign – a unique and musical Christmas commercial featuring staff from a dozen of Ruddington’s High Street retailers singing on location in tandem with Ruddington Community Choir. Everyone involved in the creation of this imaginative and fun promotion gave up their time and talents for free – to benefit our village traders by aiming to encourage people to shop locally this Christmas. We hope you have! So far over one and a half thousand people have viewed it…

Finally, if you’re STILL not feeling Christmassy, then tonight how about walking round to see the house below on Rainham Gardens? Their electricity bill may be a little higher this winter! The owners have done it all for charity – with donations going to Macmillan Cancer Support.
MERRY CHRISTMAS!
