Children’ s Easter Egg Hunt!

Children on Easter Day “come and find the coloured eggs hidden in our Church garden!” says organiser of the Easter Egg Hunt. If you enjoy singing, you’ll love this village event. Organisers Ruddington Community Choir are excited – and you are invited. The ‘Big Sing’ is open to everyone who likes to sing and you don’t have to be a member of a participating choir to attend. This event will be spread across multiple venues in our village. It’s almost six months since we brought you the disappointing news that the ‘Ruddington Big Sing’ would not be returning for 2022 after all – having been cancelled in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It had previously taken place every two years. Nottingham Shakespeare Company is including Ruddington in its first winter tour – to perform The Bard’s ‘The Winter’s Tale’ – inside St Peter’s Church on Friday 3rd February 2023 at 7pm. NSC strips its plays down to 90 minutes with no interval; keeping all of Shakespeare’s storytelling, characters and language but creating an exciting, dynamic and accessible performance which communicates directly and physically with the audience. The company actively seeks out theatre makers and audiences who may not usually feel represented by Shakespeare, particularly from the disabled, LGBTQ+ and neurodivergent communities. Ruddington & District Choral Society (RDCS) is hosting its termly ‘come and try us’ morning this Saturday 14th January between 10am and 12noon in St Peter’s Church. Organisers say: “Come along for a sing through some of Handel’s Coronation Anthems, and bring a friend if you can. Following the success of their debut ‘al fresco’ appearance in our village over the summer, Nottingham Shakespeare Company have announced they’re returning to Ruddington early in the New Year to treat us to their next production by The Bard. Appropriate to the season, this time they’re presenting ‘A Winter’s Tale’ and bringing their “stripped back, inclusive and accessible shows” in from the cold.
