Where’s Ma’s Mah Jong Gone?

An appeal has been launched by a member of a famous Ruddington family for an item of great sentimental value which was accidentally given to a village charity shop. Musician Guy Phethean is on the hunt for a ‘Mah Jong’ set, belonging to his mother Kathy, donated to the Nottinghamshire Hospice Shop in Ruddington in the autumn of 2018. Sainsbury’s to Close!

It’s been announced our Sainsbury’s Local in Ruddington will shut early next year. The shock news comes at a difficult time for many retailers due to the COVID-19 outbreak but, in fact, it appeared villagers were making very good use of our Dutton’s Hill convenience store during ‘lockdown’ – with more of us switching to shopping locally because of the pandemic. The charity is pleased to report that, since then, it has had a good response for donations and is now able stand on its own two feet with stock mostly donated by local people. Money raised at The Children’s Society’s shop here in Ruddington…

New Charity Shop Opens

It was officially opened at 10.30am by the Mayor of Rushcliffe Councillor Barrie Cooper. This is our village’s THIRD charity shop, sited where Crusader Gifts‘ clearance shop – and previously  Something Special – used to be. This prominent corner unit had lain empty for most of the last two years so to see it back in use, and bustling with activity, is…
