After Sellors’ Recreation Ground twice became a temporary home to members of the travelling community over the summer the latest Ruddington encampment is at the other end of our village. SIX caravans rolled into the Visitor Car Park in Rushcliffe Country Park at around 10am this morning (Monday 1st October) and parallel parked near to the exit. A Ruddington dog lover has launched an online fundraising appeal for her pet’s favourite exercise spot – after poor weekend weather put people off attending a special event there aimed at raising more cash to maintain and improve it. Rain fell on Sunday (26th August) as the 3rd Anniversary “Fun Dog Show” was taking place in and around Coppers Dog Activity Trail at Rushcliffe Country Park – keeping many pooches and their owners away. Whilst many are enjoying the extended heatwave and glorious sunshine, unfortunately the hot and dry weather has had a negative impact on one of Ruddington’s key tourist attractions. After safety concerns, Great Central Railway (Nottingham) has cancelled all its planned steam services this Sunday (8th July). Half Term Trains Cancelled

Ruddington’s Great Central Railway has announced that the half term services planned for February will not be able to run “due to unforeseen circumstances”. It was timetabled for trains to run over the weekends of the 11th & 12th of February and the 18th & 19th of February However GCRN Director Phil Stanway told RUDDINGTON.info that they’d reluctantly had to cancel these trips because of “unscheduled track repairs”. More Woodland for our Country Park

After an unsuccessful application to The Woodland Trust to enable more tree planting at Rushcliffe Country Park a local company has now stepped in to help. The Nottingham Post reports that Artex Ltd has contributed £5,000 to allow an area about the size of a football pitch to be fenced off and for woodland to be created for future generations.
