A Ruddington dog lover has launched an online fundraising appeal for her pet’s favourite exercise spot – after poor weekend weather put people off attending a special event there aimed at raising more cash to maintain and improve it. After safety concerns, Great Central Railway (Nottingham) has cancelled all its planned steam services this Sunday (8th July). Ruddington’s Great Central Railway has announced that the half term services planned for February will not be able to run “due to unforeseen circumstances”. It was timetabled for trains to run over the weekends of the 11th & 12th of February and the 18th & 19th of February However GCRN Director Phil Stanway told RUDDINGTON.info that they’d reluctantly had to cancel these trips because of “unscheduled track repairs”. After an unsuccessful application to The Woodland Trust to enable more tree planting at Rushcliffe Country Park a local company has now stepped in to help. The Nottingham Post reports that Artex Ltd has contributed £5,000 to allow an area about the size of a football pitch to be fenced off and for woodland to be created for future generations.
