Get Ready for ‘The Big Sing’

It’s been rather a long wait, partly due to COVID-19 restrictions, but Ruddington’s much loved singing festival is finally back this month. As before, the aim is to enjoy singing together, and anyone can take part, whether you can sing or not! ‘The Big Sing 2023’ is run by Ruddington Community Choir, who hope it will be a welcome boost to our village economy, too. If you enjoy singing, you’ll love this village event. Organisers Ruddington Community Choir are excited – and you are invited. The ‘Big Sing’ is open to everyone who likes to sing and you don’t have to be a member of a participating choir to attend. This event will be spread across multiple venues in our village. This is a lovely way to celebrate Ruddington Community Choir’s tenth anniversary. The Summer Concert & 10th Anniversary Celebration will start at 2.30pm on Saturday 30th July at the Methodist Church. “Ruddington Community Choir would love to invite you to our final performance before we take our summer break.” The event will raise funds for the Church. What a great opportunity to learn a song in one session! If you like singing, then this 2-hour workshop is for you – no previous experience is required. Come and celebrate Her Majesty the Queen’s record breaking reign – starts today Thursday 2nd June to Sunday 5th June. To mark the Platinum Jubilee our village has been decorated with red, white and blue flowers, ribbons, flags and yarn bombing displays. The Green will be home to beacon lighting, a tree-planting ceremony and a community picnic, followed by games and live music, for all to enjoy. A unique and musical Christmas commercial featuring staff from a dozen of Ruddington’s High Street retailers singing on location in tandem with Ruddington Community Choir – the first of its kind for our village – premiered today (Saturday 1st December) during the annual Christmas Fayre! Visitors to both the The Frame Breakers’ pub and St Peter’s Church {top photo} gathered to watch the debut public screenings of the “Twelve Days of Christmas” carol, #RuddyGood style.
