Spring Art Exhibition

The Spring 2017 Art Exhibition has now begun in the Chapel Gallery at Ruddington’s Framework Knitters Museum. The exhibition – the museum’s fifth in total and fourth in partnership with the Nottingham Society of Artists – features work by three popular local artists: Doreen Hunt, Richard Simkins and 94 year old Nigel Corlett. Having opened on Saturday 4th March, the exhibition will run until Saturday 27th May – taking in the Easter school holidays and benefiting from Sunday opening days at the museum, which start on Easter Sunday. Framework Knitters’ Museum Reopens

Ruddington’s Framework Knitters’ Museum reopens today (Wednesday February 1st) after the winter break. The fourth exhibition at the Chapel Art Gallery, which opened in November 2016, also resumes. This features Nottinghamshire artists Lynda Childs, Dawn Wilsher and Nigel Boughton-Smith. It will continue until Wednesday the 22nd of February. Grices Goes Under

Long term Ruddington residents will be saddened to learn that one our village’s most famous family firms has gone out of business after over a century. Grices of Ruddington was actually established as a workshop and garage in 1909 by Reuben Grice (senior) and his wife Catherine who then lived at 12/14 Wilford Road. Initially they sold and repaired bicycles there, even mending vehicles from the MOD during the war years.  He introduced a petrol pump with a hose that swung out over Dutton’s Hill to fill up the few cars that were around…

Ambitious Former DIY Shop Plans

There could soon be two rather striking new buildings in Ruddington if a state-of-the-art scheme for a former DIY shop site is given the go-ahead by Rushcliffe planners. H.A. Framework Knitters’ Funding Boost

Ruddington’s Framework Knitters’ Museum has been awarded £33,000 by Arts Council England from its so-called “Museum Resilience Fund”.  The investment is to be used to help enlarge the museum’s site, create additional high quality exhibitions and expand the range of events and activities for visitors.
