This morning, Britain’s Sir Bradley Wiggins, Geraint Thomas and Chris Froome are set to be among 120 of the world’s elite cyclists racing through our village in the much anticipated OVO Energy “Tour of Britain”. Although they will whizz through in a matter of minutes, preparations by Councils, local residents and businesses on Stage Seven of the route have been ongoing for months! Back in August we posted about the summer fundraisers for Ruddington’s Mustard Seed Project and about their role in helping James Peacock School celebrate the 50th anniversary of its move to Manor Park. James Peacock – Class of 1967?

Next month Ruddington’s James Peacock School marks its 50th anniversary of moving to its current location in Manor Park. The new buildings replaced the original “free school” built in 1875 on the corner of Asher Lane and The Green (now Adlard Print) that had become too small for our growing village. To celebrate its half century the school is holding a “Community Celebration Day” on Saturday the 30th of September between 1pm and 5pm. Ruddington Couple Renew Vows

A couple who’ve lived in Ruddington for 27 years renewed their vows on Saturday at St Peter’s Church. It was to coincide with Mandy and Ian Baker’s 28th wedding anniversary. The service was attended by close family and friends – after which the couple were driven away in a vintage vehicle for drinks and to cut their extra-special anniversary cake. Mandy is well known in the village. She was a childminder on Wilford Road for ten years before going on to her current job at James Peacock School. Our thanks to their daughter Tish…
