Platinum Jubilee Village Events

See Saturday’s events to celebrate Her Majesty the Queen’s record breaking reign running in Ruddington (until Sunday 5th June) at The Green and various village venues. To mark the Platinum Jubilee our village has been decorated with red, white and blue flowers, ribbons, flags and yarn bombing displays. Also there’s been ‘Life in Ruddington’ at the library, created in partnership by Ruddington Museum & Ruddington History Society, and the history of the Ruddington WI inside the Framework Knitters’ Museum (FKM). Please Don’t Burn It!

Rushcliffe Borough Council is urging residents not to burn garden waste or other materials during the current lockdown, but to store it safely at home instead. As most Ruddington households follow Government guidance to stay at home whenever possible during the Coronavirus outbreak, it’s expected villagers will continue to spend more time out in the garden – especially during the recent, warmer weather. If you asked the average shopper what types of retailer were essential for a vibrant high street, it’s a fair bet a butchers would be among them. Ruddington Village Butchers‘ Shane Ginty helped to bring T W Oliver’s historic Church Street premises back to life in March 2011, after our village’s last remaining butcher’s shop had lain empty for the previous seven months.
