Nottinghamshire County Council has launched its biannual search for people who go the extra mile for a neighbour, an organisation or our local community.
Chairman Kevin Rostance (pictured above with winners and nominees from last year) is appealing for nominations for this Spring’s ‘Nottinghamshire Community Heroes’ – giving villagers chance to put Ruddington on the map.
Councillor Rostance said: “I am delighted to launch the next round of our Community Hero Award. The award gives us the opportunity to celebrate the wonderful people of Nottinghamshire and say thank you to many unsung heroes, who do amazing work within their local community, which can sometimes go unrecognised.”
Potential nominees could include those who:
- Help vulnerable people with shopping or give lifts for medical appointments
- Support young people in their community
- Volunteer for a good cause
- Lead a local community project which has made a difference to people’s lives
- Have carried out a heroic or selfless act
The Nottinghamshire Community Hero nominations criteria are as follows:
- Nominees must live in the county
- Nominees must work or volunteer within the county
- Nominations should not be party political
- Nominees must not be a Member of a Local Authority or Parish and Town Council
So, if you know someone here in Ruddington who deserves to be considered, please nominate them as soon as possible. The County Council asks you to note that nominees, and those nominating, would feature in award publicity. The Chairman will be presenting the award to the winner at Nottingham’s County Hall this spring.
All nominations need to be submitted by Friday 28th February 2020 at the latest please – using the online application form available >>HERE<<.
