Nottinghamshire Police is appealing for any further witnesses to come forward after a man was attacked and robbed of his mobile phone in our village and left needing hospital treatment.
The incident happened last Sunday, 14th July, between 10.00pm and 10.40pm in Oliver Drive, Ruddington.
The 58-year-old victim was making his way home from the Victorian Tavern when he was punched. His mobile phone was then taken. Concerned members of the public contacted the police and the victim was taken to the Queen’s Medical Centre. His injuries were not serious.
Officers say that, so far, no arrests have been made. Currently police are carrying out a number of lines of inquiry including a full CCTV trawl to find those involved and are now calling on the public’s help to identify the offender or offenders.
PC Neil Jackson, who is investigating the incident, says: “This was a completely unprovoked and cowardly attack where a man has been robbed of his mobile phone. We are determined to catch those responsible. We know there were a number of people in the area at the same time, one of whom contacted the police about the incident.”
He adds: “We are urging any witnesses to the attack or anyone who has any dash cam footage from the Oliver Drive area of Ruddington before, during or after the attack to please get in touch.”
