Ruddington’s main bus operator is reminding passengers that we must travel only for essential journeys until there is a sufficient relaxation of the current government restrictions due to the COVID-19 Coronavirus.
Until then, Nottingham City Transport (NCT) is running a ‘core network’ of services, including the Green 10 from our village to the City via Loughborough Road and the Wolds Estate. The revised timetable can be found >>HERE<<. This slimmed down service is to ensure key workers can still travel, along with those needing to use the bus for essential shopping or medical needs.
You can find information about Ruddington’s Spring Bank Holiday buses >>HERE<<. Please note our village Navy 3 route is not operating until further notice.
‘Social distancing’ allows for public transport use, whilst ensuring the risk to other customers on the bus is minimised. When travelling on the bus, you’re asked to try and sit apart from other people where possible – and make use of the upper deck, too.
The guidance says, if you are travelling, you must:
- NOT travel if you are feeling unwell or are living with someone who has symptoms or is self-isolating
- Keep your distance from other people when waiting at the bus stop and board the bus one at a time
- Have your smart card, mobile ticket app or cash ready to travel before boarding, to ensure you board quickly
- Try and sit away from other people, where possible, and we recommend customers who can travel upstairs do so to give more distance between people on board.
- Not stand forward of the red circle on the floor when getting off the bus until the doors are open
- Cough and sneeze considerately by using a tissue and taking it off the bus with you to dispose in a bin
- Wash your hands for at least 20 seconds when you reach your destination

NCT says it has maintained its existing, rigorous cleaning regime, but enhanced the cleansing of parts on buses that people touch most, such as hand poles, bell pushes and inside the driver cabs. The company has also installed additional hand sanitising points at all of its sites and is reminding all employees to follow Public Health England’s advice of regular hand washing.
If you have pre-paid for your travel, NCT is keen to ensure you do not lose out on the days you have paid for. If you have an Easyrider consecutive days travel pass or mobile ticket – but then have to self-isolate or are unable to travel for the foreseeable future because of the Coronavirus – you can either extend your travel or obtain a refund >>HERE<<.
