Villagers who enjoy exploring the footpaths across what remains of the open countryside surrounding Ruddington are being encouraged to help stop a popular and important access route being lost.
Nottinghamshire Ramblers are appealing for evidence that Landmere Lane has been used by the public for the last 20 years as an ‘unregistered path’. Signs have been tied up around the area with specific reference to the link from the end of Landmere Lane to ‘Ruddington Bridleway 2’ {shown in the top photo}. The group is asking that path users complete a ‘User Evidence Statement’ as soon as possible to claim this essential link as a public right of way linking to the existing underpass under the A52.
It’s known this section of unmade road is accessed frequently by cyclists and horse riders – as well as walkers – and everybody who uses it, or has used it, is asked to get involved. This will include anyone who has completed ‘Ruddy Good Walk No.2’ to Sharpill Wood and back, which RUDDINGTON.info published last summer.
It’s thought the concern over this route was partly prompted by the ‘Greater Nottingham Strategic Plan – Growth Options Consultation published last year by Greater Nottingham Planning Partnership which proposes more massive scale house building on further Green Belt sites around Ruddington by 2038. One of these potential development sites, earmarked as R12.3 {see below} could be constructed right over this current access route.
You can find the relevant Nottinghamshire Ramblers’ User Evidence Statement online form >>HERE<< to fill in and send off to Nottinghamshire County Council as soon as possible.
