Freedom Flying High!

Members of Freedom Dance & Performance are celebrating their success at the 2016 “Dance World Cup“.

38 different countries from Jersey to South Africa were there taking part. Among the twelve thousand competitors were thirty young dancers from the Ruddington based performing arts school – who jetted off to Jersey for a week to compete as part of Team England.

The great news is that Freedom brought home 2 Silver medals – for Inter Song and Dance Group “Welcome to Wonderland” and the Children’s Hip Hop Solo by Marly-Rae Gaunt.

They also won 2 Bronze medals for Junior Hip Hop Soloist Arybella Eddy and Senior Hip Hop Group “Freedom Movement” (pictured top).

Principal Stacey Gaunt said: “I am overwhelmed my Freedom family brought home FOUR World Cup Medals and we wouldn’t of done it without the support for Freedom from local business who help with our fund raising – which totalled over £25,000.”

Our local dancers helped Team England to WIN The Dance World Cup for the fourth year in succession! Next summer the finals will be held at Offenbach in Germany.
