Villagers of all ages are invited to take part in a free walking and cycling event at Rushcliffe Country Park on Wednesday 14th August.
Organisers Rushcliffe Borough Council (RBC) say this Ruddington event for 2024 will feature a range of fun and insightful activities from 10am to 2pm and include a wellbeing walk led by ‘Rushcliffe Move and Mingle’ at 10.30am.
Between 11am and 1pm there is also an opportunity for you to grab your map and get involved in orienteering with Nottinghamshire Orienteering Club. The event will offer residents the chance to take advantage of maintenance and minor repairs from Dr Bike as well as having a go on smoothie and jukebox bikes!
The Council’s Community Safety Team will also provide a bike marking and registering session and RideWise will have a range of their adapted bikes for people to try out.
No booking is required for any of the activities and it is all part of RBC’s ‘Walking and Cycling Action Plan’ which encourages residents to get more active and safely enjoy a healthy lifestyle.
RBC’s Cabinet Portfolio Holder for Leisure and Wellbeing Cllr Jonathan Wheeler says: “It’s great to see our previous summer of cycling events grow even further this year with the addition of walking activities as it returns to Rushcliffe Country Park. The event is a great opportunity to visit our much-loved venue, take in the fresh air and enjoy an event that offers a variety of walking and cycling activities for residents of all ages and abilities.”
Cllr Wheeler {pictured above centre) adds: “Sport will be a key focus with The Olympics, just around the corner, and this event will encourage people to get active and try out something new in a safe and fun environment.”
The healthy Ruddington event also links with an NHS ‘Population Health Management’ campaign focusing on physical activity which is aimed at promoting local services available to anyone and getting people to be more active.
