A few weeks’ ago we reported how Space Foods Ltd has submitted revised plans to Rushcliffe Borough Council (RBC) for outline planning permission to build 175 new homes on Green Belt land it owns south of Musters Road – with access off Musters Road.
This is even before this April’s Public Inquiry triggered by Space Foods’ appeal to the Planning Inspectorate against RBC refusing the previous version of these plans – with the access originally proposed off Asher Lane. The planned new access off Musters Road would require the demolition of an existing dwelling which is now owned by the would-be developers.
As the deadline for public comments draws close, Ruddington Action Group (RAG) is urging concerned villagers to submit their objections now. In a statement it says: “As the only access into the site, RAG considers this would result in unacceptable traffic levels not only on Musters Road itself but also on Distillery Street, Sandhurst Drive, Asher Lane and other nearby residential roads. RAG also believes the application does nothing to address previous concerns regarding the traffic chaos and gridlock in the centre of the village that would result.”
RAG Chairman Mike Ader told RUDDINGTON.info: “RAG has previously galvanised local opposition to these plans and is again asking residents to leave the Borough Council in no doubt as to the strength of local opposition to this application. To this end RAG members have distributed leaflets to properties nearest the application site and will also be on the High Street this Saturday (3rd March) raising awareness of the application and its adverse impacts. It is important that residents opposed to the development of this site resubmit their objections as comments made on either of the previous applications cannot be taken into account.”
Mike continues: “RAG is passionate about protecting the rural and historic character of the village. We are not ‘anti-development’, but wish to see the village developed sustainably for the benefit of future generations. RAG does not believe this proposal would deliver on this vision.”
The reference number for this latest Space Foods application is 18/00300/OUT and you can see full details of their revised plans >>HERE<< and comment on them >>HERE<<. But you now have only until THIS MONDAY March 5th to do so.
Alternatively, Ruddington Parish Council has agreed to forward any letters dropped off at St Peter’s Rooms by this Friday.
As always, comments on Ruddington social media are welcome, too – but please remember these will NOT be taken into account by Rushcliffe Borough Council nor the Planning Inspectorate!
