Given Ruddington’s famous framework knitting heritage, what better way to showcase our village to the world than by displaying a giant knitted scarf created by its residents on a circular sock knitting machine dating from 1860? Villagers are already getting into the Tour of Britain spirit – by saving a bike from the scrapheap that will now be turned into a colourful creation to celebrate this year’s race passing right through Ruddington. Over a hundred of the world’s top riders will be passing through Ruddington during the penultimate stage of this year’s OVO Energy “Tour of Britain” cycle race! The announcement comes on the back of last year’s successful event which attracted 210,000 supporters in Nottinghamshire on the day – one of the biggest turnouts across the eight stage race across the UK.
