With another spell of fine weather forecast, Ruddington Parish Council (RPC) is reminding parents and guardians that ALL its play areas are CLOSED until further notice due to the Coronavirus lockdown. These are at Elms Park, Sellors’ Playing Field (above), Vicarage Lane Playing Field (below) and St Mary’s Community Park. Although taking your kids out for daily exercise is encouraged, RPC says: “There have been reports that parents are allowing their children to play on the equipment and play areas. A team of inspiring British athletes, who have overcome ill health and successful organ transplants, are heading to Canada to compete in the eleventh World Transplant Winter Games at the end of this month. Family’s Fundraiser To Bring Baby Argyle Home

A Ruddington family is appealing for help to raise funds – to allow them to get their five month old baby boy home from hospital. After a complicated pregnancy, Argyle and his twin sister Thorunn, were born via cesarean section at the Queen’s Medical Centre (QMC) on October 24th last year at 35 weeks – weighing 6.4Ibs and 5.5Ibs respectively. Ruddington Resident Returns to Transplant Games

A kitchen designer from Ruddington is back in sporting action this week, taking part in the British Transplant Games. Mark Brown, of Grange Avenue, is competing over in Birmingham from August 2nd to 5th. The games, which have been run annually since 1978, will see over 700 athletes participating in over 25 events cheered on by over 1250 supporters. 51 year-old Mark suffered from the hereditary condition Alport Syndrome, which led to kidney failure at the age of 25.
