Ruddington Drug Development Company Gets Bigger

A village based pharmaceutical specialist, which employs almost 400 people at Ruddington Fields Business Park, has just taken over another UK based drug firm for an undisclosed sum. Quotient Sciences, the drug development and manufacturing accelerator, located along Mere Way, has announced that it has acquired Arcinova – described as “a multiservice contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO).”  Trading for over 40 years and with 160 employees of its own at Alnwick, in Northumberland, Arcinova is said to provide drug substance, drug product and bioanalysis services to over 200 pharma and biotech customers worldwide. Ruddington’s historic Framework Knitters’ Museum has announced it has a new Curator. Jim Grevatte is taking over the management role during exciting times for our village heritage site – which very recently secured Heritage Lottery Funding for its future expansion plans. Framework Knitters’ Museum wins National Lottery Funding

Ruddington’s Framework Knitters’ Museum has received initial National Lottery support for a new project called ‘A Right Good Yarn’. Made possible by National Lottery players, the project aims to expand the museum into an adjacent property called ‘Gunn Cottage’, purchased in 2013, and redevelop the existing space. The monies will also allow vital conservation and renovation works to take place. In an era of shop closures and pessimism there’s finally a bit of welcome business news for Ruddington… Firstly, we can confirm that Philo’s Deli is to take over the empty shop unit at 1A, Church Street (pictured above right) recently vacated by Tanners.
