For over ten years now members of Ruddington Community Choir have been entertaining audiences – and themselves – with weekly rehearsals leading to regular concerts both in our village and further afield. Not only that, they’ve organised popular events in Ruddington such as ‘The Big Sing’ – which attracts choirs from around the country to attend specialist workshops and performances at venues around the village. It’s almost six months since we brought you the disappointing news that the ‘Ruddington Big Sing’ would not be returning for 2022 after all – having been cancelled in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It had previously taken place every two years. More Ruddington Aid for Ukraine

Organisers of a popular pre-Christmas concert in our village have revealed that it raised hundreds of pounds for humanitarian aid in war-torn Ukraine. ‘Handel’s Messiah’ is traditionally performed every two years by Ruddington & District Choral Society (RDCS) in St Peter’s Church. This time around, on Monday December 12th, its members chose the work of The British Red Cross in Ukraine as the good cause to support. Ruddington Community Choir has announced that its ‘Ruddington Big Sing’ will be returning for 2022 – the choir’s tenth anniversary year. After being cancelled in 2020 due to the pandemic, Ruddington will once again be welcoming singers and choirs from both near and far on Saturday 8th October.* *Please read the important update below. Community Choir Celebrates Ten Years

It may seem like only yesterday that @RUDDINGTON_info Tweeted out an invitation to join a brand new village choir – but it was actually way back in February 2012! This month is the tenth anniversary of Ruddington Community Choir‘s very first workshop. The lovely, musical milestone was celebrated by its current members this week during their usual Tuesday evening rehearsal at Ruddington Methodist Church.
