Stay Safe in our Play Areas this Christmas

Residents and visitors to Rushcliffe Country Park and other public open spaces and play areas in Ruddington are being reminded to follow simple steps to have fun safely through the festive season.

Rushcliffe Borough Council anticipates its Country Parks in particular will remain very popular over the holidays, as villagers and visitors feel the need to get regular exercise and fresh air to assist with both our physical and mental health.  Additionally, we are still only able to meet up with others in public open spaces under with continuing Tier 3 Coronavirus restrictions.

Given the expected higher footfall at parks and open spaces, the authority is asking all of us to follow these tips to ensure everyone can enjoy a safer experience when visiting such locations.

  • Follow the on-site signage and remember to socially distance from others at all times
  • Wash your hands before and immediately after visiting
  • Only one parent or support bubble member should accompany a child at any play area
  • No one should visit a site if they feel unwell
  • Consider returning at a quieter time should you arrive to find parks or facilities already busy
  • Follow the above points if using the 4X Bike Track at Rushcliffe Country Park
  • Outdoor gym equipment remains open in line with the latest government guidance

(Please remember the Skate Park at Rushcliffe Country Park is currently closed.)

Similar precautions should be followed at Ruddington Parish Council’s play areas in Elms Park, Sellors’ Playing Field, Vicarage Lane Playing Field and St Mary’s Community Park.

You may also continue to see Rushcliffe Borough Council’s ‘High Street Ambassadors’ around our village, whose role it is “…to provide advice and reassurance at sites across the Borough, highlighting signage that reiterates the measures to follow at each location.”

We’re assured that sanitisation of facilities at all play parks takes place routinely. However, any feedback on Ruddington’s sites should be sent to facilities@rushcliffe.gov.uk for the Country Park or office@ruddingtonparishcouncil.gov.uk for those play areas maintained by Ruddington Parish Council.
