There’s more good news for our village centre! If you’re a bride-to-be, or likely to be making wedding plans soon, you now need look no further than Ruddington for your dress and accessories.
On Thursday (10th January 2019) Shade Bridal Boutique opened for business at its new premises on Easthorpe Street. Originally established in February 2011, on Melton Road in West Bridgford, it was the vision of Jessica Beard & Charlotte Jarvie – who wanted “to create an experience that was as memorable as a bride’s wedding dress.” Emma Castle bought the business from Jessica in November 2018 – but decided to relocate it.
“Fashion has been my background since I came to Nottingham to go to Uni, many moons ago, and it’s always been my dream to have a bridal shop!” explains Emma. “But the first floor premises in West Bridgford weren’t ideal, and the landlord wanted to put the rent up quite a lot, so that pushed me to look for somewhere else. I wanted it to be quite intimate – but it needed to look right – a bit more romantic – and then I saw this building with the curved windows in Ruddington which I thought would be absolutely perfect as a bridal shop. I’ve been getting it ready since the end of November – and everyone has been so welcoming!”
Emma’s wedding dress designers are Wendy Makin – known for The French Collection, Ready to Wear and Couture – and Eddy K‘s Italia & Milano Collections. “We also stock a lot of accessories such as veils, belts, shoes, hair accessories and jewellery – and we will have bridesmaids dresses from this summer.”
Shade Bridal Boutique opens 10.00am to 5.30pm Tuesday to Saturday at 38, Easthorpe Street, but Emma says she can also do evening appointments for anyone who can’t make it between those times. She adds: “Coming to Ruddington – I think I’ve definitely made the right decision – because the village is so lovely and the people have been so nice.”
