If you haven’t already voted by post, here’s a timely reminder of the names on the ballot papers for villagers to choose from at this week’s (two) local elections.
On Thursday 2nd May 2024, we’re urged to have our say on both who we’d like to lead the ‘Combined County Mayoral Authority’ and which candidate should be our next ‘Police and Crime Commissioner’.
It’s Ruddington’s chance to help choose the first-ever elected East Midlands Mayor; after local councils gave the green light for a £1.14billion devolution deal for our region.
We’re also voting for who should be the next Nottinghamshire Police and Crime Commissioner; who’s responsible for policing across the county and delivering an effective and efficient police service.
The following people, listed alphabetically, have been or stand nominated for election as East Midlands Combined County Authority Mayor:
Frank ADLINGTON- STRINGER – Green Party
Ben BRADLEY – The Conservative Party Candidate
Alan GRAVES – Reform UK
Matt RELF – Independent
Helen Louise TAMBLYN- SAVILLE – Liberal Democrat
Claire Margaret WARD – Labour and Co- operative Party
The following people, listed alphabetically, have been or stand nominated for election as a Nottinghamshire Police and Crime Commissioner:
Gary Anthony GODDEN – Labour and Co-operative Party
Caroline Elizabeth HENRY – Conservative Candidate

Our two Ruddington polling stations at St Peter’s Rooms (top) and The Village Hall (below) open from 7am until 10pm. For newcomers to our village, the one you’ll need to use depends upon where you live – and is printed with a location map on your Poll Card.
- Passport
- Driving licence (including provisional licence)
- Blue badge
- Certain concessionary travel cards
- Identity card with PASS mark (Proof of Age Standards Scheme)
- Biometric Immigration document
- Defence identity card
- Certain national identity cards
If you have a form of accepted photo ID which is out of date, you can still use it to vote at a polling station if it still looks like you.

Rushcliffe Borough Council’s Local Returning Officer for the elections, Katherine Marriott, says: “It is essential that everyone brings a form of photo ID or their Voter Authority Certificate with them if voting in person at a polling station at this week’s elections, otherwise they won’t be able to vote.”
