Whilst their regular meetings at The Next Episode are cancelled until further notice due to the COVID-19 Coronavirus restrictions, a village based art group is hoping we’ll show our creative flair ‘remotely’ by taking part in an exciting new competition.
Ruddington Art & Craft Society is inviting submissions by email on the theme of ‘Our Wonderful World’ between now and the end of this month. It’s open to all age groups – with ‘arty’ prizes relevant to the age category and a special exhibition promised for entrants’ art work once ‘social distancing’ restrictions are lifted.
Organiser Chris Marriott says: “We welcome all types of art work from paint, collage, photography, clay or any type of medium you choose. All ideas and abilities to be uncovered – let your imagination flow! Entry to the competition is FREE. However, if you choose to make a donation, we are supporting St Peter’s Junior School food bank – which is helping families of both village schools in Ruddington.”
The age categories are Pre-school, 5 to 7, 8 to 11, 12 to 18 and Adults – and you should state which age group you belong to when submitting your artwork. This should be a maximum size of A3, whilst 3D artwork or sculptures should measure no more than 42cm in any direction.
The only condition being imposed by RACS is that entrants agree to their artworks being used on its social media and for the purposes of marketing the society. Chris adds: “We very much look forward to seeing your creations – and thank you for supporting our wonderful village!”
A photograph of your entry should be emailed to ruddingtonacsociety@gmail.com – stating your name and age category – by the extended closing date of Tuesday 30th June 2020. Good luck!
