Ruddington Hit by Power Cuts

As Storm Dennis lashed Ruddington this weekend, some residents awoke on Sunday morning to find themselves with no electricity.

Western Power Distribution (WPD) confirmed to RUDDINGTON.info that a fault on its low voltage network at the Savages Row substation is “affecting a predicted 171 properties” in the Wilford Road area at the northern end of our village. It was first reported at 5.09am, affecting the postcodes NG11 6EZ, NG11 6BN, NG11 6FB, NG11 6BL, NG11 6BJ, NG11 6EY, NG11 6BH, NG11 6FD, NG11 6BG, NG11 6EW and NG11 6EQ. However, popular Sunday lunch venue The Ruddington Arms has not born affected by the outage and is open as usual.

Ruddington poet Pat Dring was one of the early risers posting a photo on social media (top) showing she had to rely on candles first thing after her home was one of those left powerless. Whilst @FlloydTheCat tweeted: “I was supposed to be doing a Sunday vegan feast for the olds…” and joked “…omg my kids will have to communicate by using their voice and body language!!!!”

WPD says its engineers are needing to work underground to fix it but aim to restore power by approximately 2.30pm this afternoon (Sunday 16th February). The company is apologising to the villagers affected for any inconvenience, and is posting updates >>HERE<<.
