The Easter break will be slightly longer than usual for one of our village traders. Ruddington Post Office at 4, High Street will be shut from 5.30pm today (Thursday April 1st) until 9.00am on Tuesday.
Owner Nikki Wright explains: “This weekend we are closed temporarily for some building work which we are having done. This will make our working environment easier”.
Nikki and her team took over the running of the Post Office and shop last November after the Patels decided to sell their successful business. They have remained open as an ‘essential’ trader throughout the latest ‘lockdown’. Nikki decided to carry out the building work this weekend to minimise disruption and inconvenience – since the branch would have been closed for the Easter Bank Holiday anyway.
She adds: “We thank all of our customers for all the support and lovely comments over the time we have been working in the post office. We have started to sell party-wear including our new, large helium number balloons. We’ve also started stocking ‘Orchard Toys’ which have proved to be very popular. We have loved serving you all and look forward to doing so for many years to come.”
For villagers requiring Post Office counter services during the closure, a sign on the door (below) is directing customers to Ruddington’s nearest alternative branches at Clifton or Compton Acres.
