Along with the closure of Flawforth Lane getting extended for three weeks, there are also more roadworks through this weekend at the other end of Ruddington!
Two-way traffic control returns to Wilford Road, just north of Sellors’ Playing Field, to allow the safe erection by Clarke Telecom of a fifty foot tall mobile telecommunications mast on behalf of O2. After the ground level equipment cabinet was installed beside the cycle path last month (top photo) it’s now time for the pole itself to be put up among the line of trees. The enclosed mast will support three antennae and a satellite dish. (Please click >>HERE<< to read all the background).
The latest phase starts TODAY with Nottinghamshire County Council doing tree cutting work at the site and then it continues tomorrow until Monday (Saturday 21st October until Monday the 23rd October) with the installation of the mast. It’s thought the busy cycle path and footway will be kept open through most of this period. However the temporary lights on the B680 will have the potential to cause peak time delays to traffic and Nottingham City Transport’s Navy 3 service – so you’re once again advised to allow extra time for your journey.
UPDATE 23rd OCTOBER 2017: The work is now almost complete and the mast is in position, as shown below. However a temporary generator is being used to power it until a permanent, mains electricity supply can be connected.
