A Hundred More Jobs For Ruddington?

A major UK software company, which already employs around 900 workers at Ruddington Fields Business Park, says it could create over a hundred further jobs at the site if revised proposals for a new office block and car park are given the nod by planners.

MHR, which provides HR, talent management, and payroll services, has applied to Rushcliffe Borough Council (RBC) to revise plans which were already approved in September 2022 for another building adjacent to ‘Britannia House’ (pictured top). This additional block was to contain 2 floors of car parking and 2 floors of office space. The new application “…seeks to substitute the above approval with a proposal that still provides the same amount of car parking, but which provides a further floor of office space.”

The firm, which has its HQ at Ruddington Hall, says this higher building would enable the expanding company to add 100 full-time and 40 part-time staff to its own payroll at the Mere Way site.

The proposed elevations drawn up by Simon Gee Designs can be seen below.  If approved, this new block would be among the tallest to be built on our Business Park, which overlooks Rushcliffe Country Park.

No comments were received by RBC from members of the public, whilst consultees Nottingham East Midlands Airport, RBC’s Ecology & Sustainability Officer and Ruddington Parish Council all had no objections to MHR’s revised plans.

However, the Highway authority is not yet happy with them. Its report notes: “The applicant has not submitted an updated Transport Statement to justify the additional floor space and increase in staff numbers will not result in the traffic impact being detrimental to the highway network. Will there be more parking provision to cater for the additional movement as a result of the floor space?”

The report adds: “Until an updated TS is submitted to justify the proposed development will not have any negative impact and any mitigation measures being put in place, the Highway authority cannot support the application.”

All the documents associated with this latest MHR submission [23/02239/FUL] can be found >>HERE<<.  Rushcliffe Borough Council planners are due to consider the revised application within the next few weeks.

This multi-storey car park was MHR’s last addition to its Mere Way site in 2020.
