A long established and much loved Ruddington removals company has itself relocated – but only to a couple of doors down.
Near & Far Removals decided to remain in our village – to stay ‘Near’ rather than go ‘Far’ – and can now be found upstairs at Unit 8, Brookside Road following this month’s move from Unit 2 on November 10th. Elaine Langridge, who has run the business with her husband Martyn since 2003, says the imminent redevelopment of their former premises prompted the decision.
“We have been next door for over ten years” she explains. “Brookside Autos closed in March and the building has been sold for development. We applied for these new premises last July and it has taken this long to get up and running. We have loads more space (three offices and a separate kitchen area) and hope to be able to move from strength to strength, now offering ‘walk in’ facilities to our clients. We are no longer working on top of each other and it has opened up lots of opportunities like a separate room for doing ‘video surveys’.”
In addition to Directors Martyn and Elaine, there are four office staff plus an eleven strong team of drivers and porters. There’s onsite parking for their 18 tonne lorry, two 7.5 tonne vehicles and 3.5 tonne ‘Luton’ van, which they can pick and choose from depending on the size and scale of the move required.
“We offer full and part house removals and full and part packing services whether Near or Far, local or long distance, as far afield as Scotland and Cornwall” says Elaine. “We do dismantling and reassembling and can take away any odd unwanted items of furniture should customers be struggling to dispose.”
Near & Far Removals has noticed a rise in the number of people they’re moving into Ruddington because of all the new build estates. “We have had a very busy last few years, and still going strong at present, but I believe, with Christmas fast approaching, we will slow down at some point!” she says.
The firm has also been working with local schools, moving furniture for St Peter’s, and will be assisting with erecting Ruddington Christmas Market stalls on High Street and Church Street, on Saturday December 3rd – all on a voluntary basis for the local community.
