More Weekend Crime in Ruddington

Rushcliffe Police are warning residents that several motor vehicles in our village were targeted by a thief over the weekend.

Officers report: “During the early hours of Sunday (20th January) a number of vehicles were entered across the Ruddington area and items stolen after the suspect had rummaged around. Most missing items appear to be low value – and the cars appear to have been unlocked.”

The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 30 years old, of skinny build and wearing a three quarter length puffa jacket and a hat. Witnesses say he appeared to be on his own. There’s speculation he may have acquired some kind of ‘unlocking’ device to allow him to gain access to locked vehicles without triggering alarms. However it could just be carelessness by owners – since it seems someone was spotted simply going along trying car doors at around 4.30am. If your vehicle was accessed, and you wish to let us know in which part of the village it happened, please comment via Ruddington social media or contact us >>HERE<<.

Two residents have reported the suspect is already well known – and has been caught on at least four CCTV systems during his spree over the weekend. Nottinghamshire Police confirm they are hoping to obtain some CCTV footage to assist with their enquiries – which we aim to then share with you here on RUDDINGTON.info. In the meantime, if you may have captured CCTV images yourself or have any further information, you’re asked to get in touch with police on 101 – quoting incident number 000177-20012019.

The latest run of crime follows a relatively “quiet” December in our village. But this new spate of incidents over the last two weekends – including a raid on David Richards’ Jewellers shop – has changed all that.

Please remain on your guard – being especially careful not to leave valuable items on display in your car or property – and make sure it’s locked!
