Towns and villages across Rushcliffe have just received further recycling and litter bins to help promote ‘Recycling On The Go’ – an initiative to reduce street litter and encourage residents to place items in the right place and the right bin.
The dual stream recycling bins allow recyclable cans and plastic bottles to be placed in one side and general waste in the other. Church Street in Ruddington, next to the bench near the war memorial, is one of the new locations to benefit.
Rushcliffe Borough Council’s Cabinet Portfolio Holder for Housing, Planning and Waste Management, Cllr Roger Upton, said: “We want to encourage residents and visitors to recycle as much as possible when on our high streets and these dual bins have been placed close to areas where high volumes of disposal items are already placed. They have been installed in West Bridgford for a number of years and helped increase recycling rates in that location so we wished to roll out more to encourage similar results.”
Recycling bins can also be found around Rushcliffe Country Park in Ruddington (below) which everyone is being encouraged to make good use of – especially in light of one recent littering incident we reported there last month.
