It seems criminals are trying their best to ruin Christmas for some Ruddington residents – after another house in our village was broken into on Sunday.
Following a crime spree the previous weekend which targeted vehicles on Kirk Lane and properties on Loughborough Road, Elms Park and Sheepfold Lane, the latest burglary was at a house on Leys Road.
Rushcliffe Police are reporting that this happened between 7.30am and 3.45pm on Sunday 17th of December. Did you see or hear anything suspicious ? Do you have a CCTV system and, if so, has it picked anything up? Please let them know via 101 and quote incident number 000495-17122017.
Officers have now also released this statement:
“In the majority of these burglaries we can say that offences have taken place during mid to late afternoon which may suggest offenders were targeting houses in darkness. There are two distinct ways that these offences are taking place – either by forcing UPVC patio doors or a panel in the back door and then an untidy search taking place.
“In the case of two crimes in Ruddington village between the 8-10th December two elderly victims were targeted and there emergency key safes removed from external walls. In one of the crimes the bungalow was then entered but the victim was not present at the time. Please keep a close eye on elderly neighbours and consider the security provision of elderly relatives given these recent incidents.
“We have increased our patrols in these areas and will do everything we can to identify a suspect through the investigation. We ask that you are vigilant and consider your home security – lights and alarms. Please remember our Darker Nights crime prevention advice.”
