The Licensee of a popular Ruddington pub says he and his team are working hard to reopen as soon as possible following yesterday’s blaze.
Firefighters were called out to The Frame Breakers at the corner of High Street ad Kirk Lane late in the afternoon (Wednesday 28th February) after fire broke out in the kitchen. It’s believed to have been started by an electrical fault. Three Nottinghamshire Fire & Rescue appliances attended the scene.
John Noble says: “Everyone is okay and safe. Nobody was hurt. The fire was isolated to the kitchen, and the fire brigade did a fantastic and timely job.”
The pub was closed for the rest of the day – meaning the planned Wednesday Quiz Night had to be cancelled. However, things could have been very much worse had the blaze not been brought under control so quickly.
This morning John reports: “It seems the smoke has caused a lot more mess than we originally thought. Now we have seen it in daylight, we won’t be opening today, as we are attempting a huge clean-up operation. If anyone is feeling a bit of community spirit, Dave has plenty of marigolds! Unfortunately we will then have no food service until the kitchen can be refitted. We will do our best to get back to full speed as soon as possible.”
He adds: “Sorry to all you guys that came for the quiz to find us closed, and thanks for all the messages of support. It’s lovely to know so many people care.”
UPDATE 1st March 2024:
We’re very pleased to report the pub has now reopened following a major clean-up by staff and customers – though offering drinks only for the time being.
Just three months’ ago The Frame Breakers won a public vote as the ‘Best Pub in Rushcliffe’ in the annual awards run by Rushcliffe MP, Ruth Edwards.
Plans for a significant expansion of the Ruddington pub were then given the nod by Rushcliffe Borough Council planners late last year, as shown below on the approved plans drawn up by Welham Architects. There’ll be a new ground floor dining room and outdoor seating area, with four one-bedroomed self catering units, on the new first floor, plus four further standard bedrooms on the second floor of the existing building.
