Ruddington remains “true blue” following yesterday’s Nottinghamshire County Council elections. After the count this morning it was revealed that BOTH the councillors for the new, expanded “Leake & Ruddington” Electoral Division were the Conservative party candidates – between them securing 57.05% of the vote.
Bradmore based councillor Reg Adair (above) continues his 12 year run representing Ruddington at County Hall. He is now joined by fellow Conservative Andy Brown (right) of East Leake – who previously represented Soar Valley.
This result means that locally the Tories increased their share of the vote by 12% compared with the 2013 election – despite six other candidates also contesting the Leake & Ruddington seats – two each from Labour, The Liberal Democrats and The Green Party. UKIP did not put forward any candidates this time around.
Labour came second with a 20.25% share, the Lib Dems 3rd with 14.34% and newcomers The Greens 4th with 8.33%.

On Nottinghamshire County Council as a whole the Conservatives now have 31 councillors, The Labour Party has 23 and the Liberal Democrats just one. The other 11 seats were won by independents.
So, with all 66 seats now declared, no party has overall control.
